The AfriForum neighborhood watch in White River in cooperation with the SAPS, High-Tech Security and Netstar on 4 November 2019, traced a Toyota Fortuner at about 02:00 in the morning, after the vehicle was stolen during the farm attack.
The White River neighbourhood watch was notified late Sunday evening about the attack and stolen vehicle and a search for the suspects and vehicle was launched.
Neighbourhood watch members noticed the silver Fortuner at a Total petrol station in Kabokweni where the suspects were busy refueling the vehicle. The vehicle’s number plates were by then already removed. Neighbourhood watch members patrolling the area again observed the vehicle at around 01:00 near Casterbridge in the direction of Numbi.
Neighbourhood watch members and the SAPS chased the vehicle and followed it to Masoyi. According to Johan “Joe” Pelser of the White River neighbourhood watch the vehicle was pulled over near Ga-Tshwene, after which two suspects escaped.
The neighbourhood watch found suspicious bags in the vehicle and the police determined that it contained explosives. The police’s explosives unit was subsequently summoned to the scene. It is believed that the suspects possibly wanted to use the explosives to commit other crimes. Nobody has yet been arrested.
“We would like to thank everyone for their great cooperation in tracing the vehicle. People need to be more prepared and become involved in their communities,” says Pelser.
“Seven vehicle theft cases have been reported between October and November,” says Hennie Bekker, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Lowveld.

“I knew I had only a moment to act. I grabbed my grandfather’s old sjambok that I keep on the wall for decoration, and went at them while screaming like a bloody baboon!” recounted the courageous victim.
Mr Grobler was able to beat the intruders back after a brief struggle and was uninjured, and expressed appreciation for his tool of self defense. “I just thank my oupa for keeping this old sjambok around! I never knew it would come in handy!”

]]>Police spokesman, Brig Leonard Hlathi, would not reveal their names as yet. However, sources confirmed that the deceased is in fact Norris and his mother, Sylvia. Norris was facing trial for the double murder of Luke Von Johnston (66) and John Khoza (73) two years ago.
His trial date was set for November 4 and 5. According to Hlathi, both were staying in the same premises, but in different houses.
“It is suspected that they had a family dispute and the man went to his mother’s house where she was attacked. They were both certified dead on the scene by medical practitioners.”
Hlathi added that one of the family employees narrowly escaped by hiding in one of the rooms.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the firearm belongs to the deceased’s wife as his licensed firearm is still in police custody pending the outcome of the trial.”
Police are investigating a case of murder, unlawful possession of the firearm and an inquest has been opened.
