The attack took place on Wednesday 29 July 2020, at 19:00 while the family were busy getting dinner ready. Stephen Prinsloo (63), his wife Estella (61) and daughter Geraldine (36) were luckily to survive after they were told by the attackers “we have come to kill you.”
The family were assaulted and beaten across their heads with a firearm by three attackers who overpowered them in their home and demanded to know where the safe was.
Fortunately the daughter, Geraldine, managed to break free during the assault and fled to the neighbors for help. This caused the attackers to flee and most probably saved their lives.
The family have been deeply traumatized. There is no other information available at this stage. Police are investigating the attack.

]]>Last night there was an incident on Oudepost farm just outside Darling. 4 Men entered an elderly couple’s (Ian Benhardi (74), and his wife Jean) home through a window around 11:30 p.m.
There may have been a 5th person who was outside. The attackers did not use a recognisable language and were probably foreigners. They were armed with a stick and a knife and threatened the couple with the knife.
The attackers knew what they were doing and took items like cash, cell phones, and jewelry very quickly.
After about 15 to 20 minutes, the 4 received a call after which they immediately fled. The elderly man was then able to get his hands loose and get help from the main home, after which the owner called the farm guard and security. Fortunately, the pair was not injured.
This is not the first incident on our farms, nor will it be the last. Security must be everyone’s first priority and must be sharpened today. Listen to your dogs and alarms, gain confidence in your instincts I get help before it’s too late. Keep your communication tools at hand at all times and do not be ashamed to ask for help.
We will not stop crime, but if we work together, we will move organized crime out of our area.

]]>Agriculture is the economic hub of our region, and the West Coast is also one of the food baskets of the Western Cape, and the country. We need to protect those who work the land.
According to information, the farmer was attacked with a knife after intervening to stop a fight among farm workers. He was stabbed with a knife and died on his way to the Clanwilliam hospital.
We applaud the swift reaction of the SAPS in Clanwilliam and also that of surrounding farmers who organised search groups to help the police. We call on the police to leave no stone unturned to find the suspect. Someone dangerous is out there and needs to be arrested and charged.
We want to convey our deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and the agricultural community.
We call on SAPS and courts to do their work properly and also on the Judiciary to impose harsher sentences on those convicted of crimes like these. We need to work together to stop these murders and the evil attacks in the agricultural industry. We need to live and work in a safe environment and in harmony with each other”.
