A farm attack took place on 21 November 2019, at 11:00, in Hartbeeslaagte, Wakefield road, Mpumalanga. At least ten attackers all of whom had a firearm, some wearing masks and gloves caught a farmer off-guard when he got off his bobcat after mixing some feed for his cattle. He was severely assaulted and tied up and taken to the farmhouse.

One farm worker was also beaten and tied up. Shots were fired. At this point, another farmworker climbed on the roof and phoned for help. A neighbor was then called who immediately responded.

Inside the house, the victim was forced to hand over the keys to his safe and a large amount of cash and a .22 rifle and the spare Keys to his new white Toyota Hilux, Single Cab, GD6 with cattle rails, Reg JPD392MP was robbed.

One suspect constantly spoke on his cell phone and told the others to hurry because someone was coming.

The suspects fled the scene with the Hilux, also taking the victim’s cell phone. The responding neighbor noticed two stationary vehicles on the way to the farm and was met with the fleeing suspects in the Hilux on his way into the farm.

A high-speed chase direction Bronkhorstspruit was ended after the suspects fired some shots at the responding neighbor. He decided to follow them because at first, he thought the victim was inside the vehicle. He turned back and on his arrival at the farmhouse, he found his injured neighbor locked up in a room in his house together with the domestic helper (who was not tied up and had her phone on her the whole time).

The 64 year-year-old victim who lives alone was taken to hospital with a serious head wound and many other bruises and injuries. Other than being severely traumatized, he is in stable condition.
