The Police are searching for two suspects in connection with the murder of Sakkie and Ina van der Berg this past Friday on their smallholding outside Boshoff in the Free State.

Const. Police spokesperson Wendy Nkabi told Maroela Media on Monday that no one was arrested after the couple was murdered in their smallholdings at about 19:00 on Friday night.

Sakkie was 67 years old and Ina was 62 years old. According to Nkabi, there was no sign of forced access to the house. It is not clear at this stage how the couple were murdered.

Maroela Media earlier reported that one of the couple’s vehicles was stolen during the attack. According to Nkabi, the suspects are also out with cell phones and a firearm.

Maroela Media earlier found a domestic worker on May 31 on Monica Deniacos, 68, bloodied body in the corridor of the house. Her bloody body, Basil, was found in a room between a bed and the wall. They were killed with a blunt object.

Two Malawian workers were initially arrested for the murders but could not be linked to the incident.

Ao. Lynda Steyn, spokesman for the Hawks, told Maroela Media this morning that the Hawks’ investigation into Sakkie and Ina’s murders is still at an early stage.

Although Steyn could confirm that the Hawks were investigating the connection between the various killings, they could not confirm that it was related.

The suspicion arose because the double murder on the Deniacos couple in the same district as the double murder on the Van der Bergh couple committed. Steyn acknowledged that the suspicion could be supported by the fact that couples were victims in both incidents and that vehicles were stolen in both incidents.

“If it were connected, it would be for those reasons, but I cannot confirm whether it does.

Lieutenant Colonel. Police spokesperson Thabo Covane said no one was arrested for the murder of the Deniacos couple.

Jan van Niekerk, leader of the FF Plus in the Free State, said after the murder of the Van der Bergh couple, this double murder is just another proof that farm murders in South Africa are out of control.

“With every passing day without the ANC’s wish to admit that farm attacks and murders are a reality, farmers will continue to be murdered,” Van Niekerk said in a statement on Sunday.

“According to the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU) figures, there have been more than 60 farm murders and 217 farm attacks only in the first half of this year.

Neither President Cyril Ramaphosa nor the Free State Prime Minister Sisi Ntombela wanted to acknowledge in their recent state and provincial opening reasons that the government’s lack of rural security poses a threat to farmers’ safety and food security, “the statement said.
