BLOEMFONTEIN – Komiespoort police are investigating cases of house robbery and murder that was perpetrated on a farm at about 7:00 this morning.
A male visiting at the farm, alleged that he was outside when he saw a group of males approaching.
One of them pointed him with a firearm and forced him back into the house where two children (a boy and a girl, estimated to be in their teens) and their grandmother had already been ordered at knifepoint to lie down.
A shooting ensued between the homeowner (estimated to be in his 70s) and the farm attackers.
Two farm attackers were fatally shot while a third attacker was taken to a hospital in Ladybrand. One suspect was arrested in the vicinity of the crime scene through the assistance of local farmers.
A cellphone, reportedly stolen during the robbery, was found in his possession.
It is not yet known how many suspects in total were involved. Police investigation continues.
